We surpassed 41,300 MW of green capacity worldwide, raising our emission-free production ratio to 81%
We closed the nine months of 2023 with 41,303 MW of green installed capacity, an increase of 5.5% compared to the same period last year. Led by onshore wind, renewable production reached 58,742 GWh so far this year, 6.1% more than in the same period of the previous year, an increase that brings our emission-free production ratio to 81%.
We continue to advance in our renewable strategy, as the only way to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote energy self-sufficiency, which is so necessary at a critical time like the present. Accordingly, our renewable energy production stood at 58,742 GWh after nine months of 2023, according to the energy balance sheet data [PDF] submitted to the CNMV on 13 October. A growth in renewable production necessarily accompanied by a decisive investment in grid infrastructure, key to achieving the energy transition, reaching 41.3 billion euros in assets.
Our commitment to clean energy has led to strong growth of 45.6% in photovoltaic capacity in the last 12 months - with 1,697 MW of new installed capacity - and stands at 5,420 MW at the end of the third quarter of 2023.
